Image result for Golf: The BasicsAs most people know, golf is a sport involving a club and a ball. This is the simplest way to describe the sport, however, in reality it is much more complex than just wacking a ball towards or into a hole with a club.

One thing that is unique to golf and differs from other sports is that it does not have a standardized or set playing space. Basketball has a court, soccer has a field, but golf is played on entire course comprised of 18 mini areas, known as holes. The distance between the tee, or the starting point, and the hole varies from hole to hole, as do the factors in your way of getting the ball in the hole. Some holes have sand traps, some have trees, some have bunkers and others have water. These natural elements make it harder to get your ball into or even near the hole.

Another unique thing about golf that differs from most other sports is the fact that the goal is to actually have the lowest score of your competitors. You are hoping to get the ball in the hole is an little strokes or swings of the club as possible unlike other sports where the goal is to rack up as many points as you and your team can.

The dress code is much less athletic than other ball sports as well, but the dress code is more strict. There are requirements that need to be met in terms of footwear, pant length and material, hats, logos, shirt style, etc. Some courses will not allow you to play if you do not meet the dress code.

There are also several clubs that are used, so in reality the sport is a “ball and clubs” sport as opposed to a ball and club sport.
