Hamilton Golf and Country Club one of the most renowned golf courses in the world will host the Canadian Open in 2019 and 2023. However, owing to a variety of reasons some of which pertained to the state of the golf course, the golf course was unable to host the prestigious Canadian Open tournament. Despite past challenges, the membership of the Canadian Open recently voted for the Hamilton Golf and Country Club to host the 2019 and 2023 editions of the Canadian Open.
Announcement of The News
The announcement that the Hamilton Golf and Country Club is set to host the 2019 and 2023 editions of the Canadian Open was made by representatives of both the Hamilton Golf and Country Club and representatives of the Canadian Open at an event held on Wednesday, June 16th, 2018. The event was held at the Glen Abbey Golf course located in Ontario where the 2018 edition of the Canadian Open is going to be held this year from July 23rd to 29th.
In 2019 when the Hamilton Golf and Country Club hosts the Canadian Open, it will be the sixth time that it does so. The Club will mark its 100th year in existence since Harry Colt, an English architect designed the golf course in 1919. In its first year of existence, Hamilton Golf and Country Club hosted the traditional Canadian Open tournament that was won by Douglas Edgar. Since 1919, The Club has hosted the Canadian Open four times, in 1930, 2003, and 2006 and recently in 2012.
