Golf is a sport that has been around for decades and has seen some incredible talent. The sport is frustrating, unforgiving and takes a certain type of person or athlete. Over the years, as they say, many have tried, few have succeeded. With that said, the ones who have succeeded have been great at the sport and great athletes generally speaking. Some of the greatest players of all time, from all over the world include:
- Jack Nicklaus is a household name for golf enthusiasts and rightfully so with 18 major championships under his (golf) belt. Jack won his first major in 1963 and the last of his career in 1980. In addition to that, he holds the third most PGA Tour victories of all time with a whopping 73 victories. Jack also attained his sixth green jacket- an international recognition of greatness at the ripe age of 46 making him the oldest player to win the Masters. Let’s not forget his record breaking 18 runner up titles.
- Tiger Woods is another household name in golf. He won a total of 14 majors between 1997 and 2007 before he took a hiatus from his career when he faced some personal troubles and health issues. He holds the second most PGA Tour victories of all time with 79 victories to be proud of. He is one of only three players to have earned the prestigious “grand slam” and the only modern day player to have won four majors in a row.
- Bobby Jones is known for his pure talent as he played and succeeded at golf between 1923 and 1930 meaning technology, advanced equipment and other “job aids” were not around therefore forcing him to rely on pure skill and talent, making his 13 majors even more impressive than those of many others.
